BECAUSE WE CARE!

For the past years, some schools in Tuba
and Itogon are being listed as the lowest in rank in National Achievement Test
(NAT) which made the staff of Philex Mining Corporation be concerned because
one of its social responsibilities under the Social Development and Management
Program (SDMP) is the upliftment of literacy level of the schools which the
company has been supporting for a decade.
So to address the said academic
challenge, they decided to support trainings for the educators of Tuba
District and Itogon District II.
The first training that Philex funded
was the Transformational Leadership Training at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya last
December 27-28, 2014 which was participated by the Principals, Head teachers,
Teachers-In-Charge, and some selected teachers of Tuba. In this training, they
were able to reassess their selves as an educator and at the same time, they
started working on their students’ handbook as it may help them guide their
students accurately.
Second is the Plenary of teachers and
School heads of Tuba at Bani, Pangasinan wherein the educators benchmarked
their strength and weaknesses and also identified trainings and other
necessities for them to deliver quality education to their learners.
Third is the Educators’ Congress held at
Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur on April 12-16, 2014 wherein 180 educators from Tuba
District and Itogon District II participated.
"The trainings that you have granted us had a very big impact on our personal lives and to our teaching career as well. Rest assured that we give our full support in your company in campaigning responsible mining." says Mr. William D. Abance, Public Schools District Supervisor - Tuba District.
It has been one of the company’s visions
to assist the DepEd to heighten the quality of education being given to the
learners in Tuba and Itogon, but not limited to the areas being supported by
company.
